Booking Conditions

Our Standard Booking Conditions

1.0         Booking

1.1         To make a booking please contact us by phone or email. Alternatively you can complete our booking form and send it to
the school via email or post.  We recommend contacting the centre for available dates prior to completing a booking
form.

1.2         All bookings will be acknowledged by email or phone and once the booking fee has been received a confirmation letter
will be sent out via email or post

1.3         We require the outstanding balance for all bookings six weeks prior to the course or charter date.

1.4         We require any security fees for all charters to be paid two weeks before your charter commences.

 

2.0         Payment

2.1         To secure a booking please send a booking fee of 50% of the full cost. The outstanding balance is required to be paid
six week prior to the course date. If the booking is made less than six weeks prior to the course or charter, full
payment is required when booking.

2.2         Payment can be made by most major credit/debit cards, cheque, cash or bank transfer. All credit card transactions
will incur a £2.50 surcharge if payment is under £100 or 2% if payment is over. We also do not accept American
Express. No charge will be incurred for using a debit card.

2.3         Any security fee made by credit or debit card will be charged at a flat rate of 4% of the transaction fee to cover
bank fee.

2.4         To make any credit or debit cards transactions please call in at the office or contact us by phone on 01326 211311.
Please have your card with you if you are ringing the school.

2.5         We are sorry by we no longer accept cheques as a form of payment for any courses.

2.6         Cash payment to be made at the office. Please do not send any cash in the post.

2.7         If you would like to make a bank transfer to cover your payment please contact our office for our bank details.

 

3.0         Equipment to bring with you for Course

3.1         For all water based activities we suggest you bring the following items with you,
regardless of weather conditions:

      • Suitable footwear that you can get wet but NOT flip-flops;
      • Warm tracksuit or similar – NOT jeans;
      • Extra sweater;
      • Hat, gloves;
      • Notebook and pencil;
      • Towel;
      • Waterproofs – good quality wet weather gear and spray tops are available from the centre;
      • Wetsuits- wetsuits are available from the centre;
      • A change of clothes;
      • Passport size photo for powerboat courses only.

3.2         For Shorebased and Specialist Activities we suggest you bring the following items with you.

  • Passport Size photo for VHF/GMDSS only;
  • Course Notebook for the course;
  • Portland Plotter and dividers for navigation courses.

3.3     For all boat charters you can hire wet weather gear. If you have any questions please contact our office.

3.4     You are expected to take your entire equipment home with you. Any equipment that is left after the course or charter will
be held for a period of 2 week before being disposed of.

 

4.0         Lunch

4.1         Lunch time is 12:30 – 13:30 and the location will be agreed before the start of the course.

4.2         Any person under the age of 18 is under the supervision of the parent or guardian nominated on the Student Medical Consent, Emergency Contact Form. We do not accept any responsibility for any student during the lunch break unless arranged beforehand.

4.3         Lunch is not provided as part of the courses. The following options are available for courses at our centre:

  • Bring a packed lunch;
  • Buy food from the snack truck which visits at 09.30;
  • Pre-order from the Bickland Café, 01326 373441.

 

5.0         Course Timings

5.1         The times for courses are:

Whole Day:                        09.00 -17.00;

Morning Session:              09:00 – 12:30

Afternoon Session:           13:30 – 16:30

Evening Session:               18:30 – 21:30

 

6.0         Personal Conduct and ability

6.1         The Senior Instructor on duty reserves the right to refuse or dismiss any student on any course due to foul language, bad behaviour or anyone who would be a danger to himself or herself or anyone else on the course.

6.2         All students should be suitably confident in the water.

6.3         Any student suspected of being under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be allowed to participate or continue on any courses and will be escorted of our premise. They will also lose any rights to a refund or re booking of the course.

 

7.0         Cancellations and alterations to booked dates

7.1         If you wish to change the date of your booking please contact our office as soon as possible and we will make every effort to find alternative dates for you. We require a minimum of 48 hours’ notice to make an amendment. If we cannot find an alternative date please refer to 8.0 Refunds.

7.2         If you wish to cancel your booking please contact us by phone or email at least 48 hours prior to the booking commencing. You are welcome to send a letter in writing to the office if you are giving two or more weeks’ notice of cancelling.

7.3         We reserve the right to cancel any of our bookings due to unforeseen circumstances. In this event alternative dates would be offered, if suitable alternatives cannot be found, all course fees will be refunded.

7.4         We can accept no responsibility for the effect that weather conditions may have on our courses. In the event of severe weather forcing cancellation for health and safety reasons you will be given the option of alternative dates subject to availability. Should we not be able to rearrange an alternative date, then a refund will be offered.

 

8.0         Refunds

8.1         The cancellation date is the date we receive notice at our office, NOT the date on the written cancellation notice.

8.2         Cancellations made six weeks prior to the booked date will result in the booking fee being retained, all other payments will be refunded.

8.3         Cancellations made less than six weeks but more than two weeks prior to the booked date will result in 70% of the full cost being retained, all other payments will be refunded.

8.4         Cancellations made less than two weeks prior to the booked date will not be entitled to any refund.

 

9.0         Insurance

9.1         All our equipment and staff are covered by public liability insurance. We do not take responsibility for any personal accident or loss of your property.
