Under the new regulations, updated proficiency training for the below courses has to be undertaken every five years. Seafarers revalidating their UK Certificate of Competency after 1 January 2017 will be required to submit documentary evidence of having completed MCA approved updated proficiency training with in the last five years. Seafarers who hold an existing Personal Survival Techniques (PST) certificate are required to complete this updating training course to maintain proficiency under the STCW 2010 Manila Amendments (STCW Section A-VI/1 & table A-VI/1-1).
The training will take place both in the classroom and at our pool facility, where attendees are required to be fit enough to undertake the in-water practical drills, similar to those undertaken on the original PST course.
This one-day course recaps over basic first aid and life-saving skills with a balance of theory and practical work during training. It is designed to meet the minimum requirement for familiarisation and basic safety training for seafarers with designated emergency duties.
Under the new STCW 2010 requirements for training and certification, updated proficiency training will need to be undertaken in fire prevention and fire fighting every five years.
This is a practical one day fire course involving use of breathing apparatus, hoses, nozzles and extinguishers.
