How to enroll in sailing instructor courses

When it comes to choosing a reputable sail training organisation where you can confidently undertake yur sailing instructor courses, it pays to do your research. We hate to say it but not all programs are created equal so be sure to look for accredited bodies, such as the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) who we, and our sister company Falmouth School of Sailing, are accredited with.

We also advise building a solid foundation in the sport as most sail training organisations will require you to have:

  • A recognised sailing certification (such as RYA)
  • Practical experience skippering and crewing in various conditions
  • A deep understanding of sailing theory, boat handling, and safety procedures

If you need to strengthen your experience then consider spending time crewing on different boats or participating in regattas. However you accrue the time, it is advisable to log all the hours you have spent on the water.
