MCA Master 200 & 500 Prep for Oral Exam

The Master 200 Certificate of Competence (CoC) can be limited or unlimited. Limited allows operation of up to 150 nautical miles (NM) from a Safe Haven and Unlimited allows worldwide use.

Prerequisites

Requirements for Master 200 Oral Exam

• Minimum age of 18
• You must have completed 6 months’ seagoing service while holding an RYA Yachtmaster Offshore or IYT Master of Yachts Limited certificate
• Hold a valid ENG1 Medical
• RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Offshore Certificate of Competence (Commercial Endorsed)
• RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Coastal/Offshore Shorebased Certificate
• STCW Basic Safety Training Modules – Fire Fighting and Fire Prevention (FPFF), Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities (PSSR), Elementary First Aid (EFA) and Personal Survival Techniques (PST), Proficiency in Security Awareness (PSA)
• A GMDSS Restricted Operator’s Certificate (ROC) or General Operators Certificate (GOC)
• HELM Operational Certificate (Human Element Leadership & Management)
• Completed your NOE (Notice of Eligibility)

Additional requirements for Master 200 Unlimited

• RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Ocean Certificate of Competence (Commercial Endorsed)
• RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Ocean Shorebased Certificate
• A GMDSS General Operators Certificate (GOC)

Requirements for Master 500 Oral Exam

• Chief Mate – OOW (Officer of the Watch)
• Certificate of Proficiency in Medical Care
• STCW Advanced Fire Fighting Certificate 
• MCA approved Seamanship & Meteorology Training Module Certificate 
• MCA approved Stability & Training Module Certificate
• MCA approved Business & Law Training Module Certificate
• MCA approved NARAS Course Certificate
• MCA approved Celestial Navigation Certificate
• MCA approved ECDIS
• HELM Management Certificate (Human Element Leadership & Management)
