This Option Four programme covers a wide range of training subjects and has been created with flexibility in mind, allowing students to choose a programme and have up to 12 months to complete training courses from the date of purchase.

STCW Proficiency in Designated Security Duties (PDSD)

For seafarers who are given designated security duties on board a ship, this STCW Proficiency in Designated Security Duties course (PDSD) will teach the essential knowledge, practices, and regulation required for compliance with the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code. Covering topics such as ship security, threats and procedures, this course is essential for those tasked with gangway watches, stowaway searches and baggage searches as well as maritime piracy.

Approved Engine Course Part 1 (AEC 1)

The MCA Approved Engine Course (AEC) develops your basic understanding from the RYA Diesel Engine Maintenance (Level 1) course and our own Diesel Engine Maintenance Level 2 course to a more advanced level. It provides the practical basic hands on training and theoretical knowledge of diesel engines to enable you to work on board yachts as engineer/ duel deck engineer and also provides invaluable enhancement of the skills base for those planning to skipper smaller yachts.

The Approved Engine Course Part 2 (AEC 2) is an enhanced continuation of the Approved engine Course Part 1 (AEC 1) which includes the delivery of both practical and theory aspects. The AEC part 1 and part 2 will be termed as the full AEC course.
