Asbestos Awareness For Architects and Designers Online Course
Asbestos is probably the most dangerous building material ever used and every year thousands of people fall ill and die because of exposure to it. Having widely been used by the construction industry, right up until the year 2000, asbestos remains a hazard to this day with many workers still coming into contact with it.
The Control of Asbestos Regulations (CAR) 2012 apply to employers, employees, self-employed persons and duty holders and covers all work with asbestos containing materials. Regulation 10 of the CAR states that ‘every employer must ensure that adequate information, instruction and training is given to employees who are liable to be exposed to asbestos. This includes maintenance workers and others who may come into contact with or disturb asbestos.’Â
As well as informing you about the risks of working with asbestos, the course will deliver detailed information about recognising asbestos, where it’s used, how to minimise the risks and detail the legislation about working with asbestos in an architect or designer’s role.
This one-on-one, tutor-led, interactive e-learning course is aimed at anyone who may come across Asbestos, or employs people who may come across Asbestos, as part of their work. A slight variation on the Asbestos Awareness course, this contains specific information for designers and architects.
Straightforward to work through, once you receive your log-in details, you can complete the course at any your own pace, in your own time. Whenever you log in, you’ll be able to see the progress you have made and our e-learning portal will remember where you left off last time – so you can continue your training quickly and easily.
Our presenter Nigel will guide you through all the knowledge and understanding you need in a series of videos followed by some multiple choice questions. You’ll have three attempts to complete each module before you’ll need to call us.

- Module 3: Avoiding the Risks from Asbestos
- Module 4: An Outline of Asbestos Legislation
On successful completion of the course you will be awarded an electronic Certificate of Training in Asbestos Awareness for Architects and Designers.
